Evidence boundaryL-Carnitine / Levocarnitine is classified here as Endogenous nutrient and prescription active ingredient in product-specific contexts. Authorised levocarnitine products exist for defined deficiency-related contexts, while wellness and body-composition claims require separate evidence. U.S. prescription labels exist for defined levocarnitine products; that status does not authenticate a catalogue vial or any Lipo-C blend. A catalogue name does not establish identity, formulation, quality or authorisation, and this page provides no dosage, mixing, injection or purchasing instructions. An endogenous redox cofactor, not a peptide; evidence depends strongly on precursor, formulation and route.A nucleoside analogue and AMPK-related research compound, not a peptide; clinical and anti-doping contexts must be separated.
Unknowns

Insufficient data in the current dataset

  • whether direct NAD+ improves any patient-important clinical outcome
  • tissue distribution and cellular uptake across routes and formulations
  • long-term safety, interaction and repeated-exposure risks
  • comparability among IV preparations and proprietary oral formulations
  • whether biomarker increases translate into better function or healthspan
  • current Thailand, EU and UK product-specific regulatory status pending direct verification
  • status and results of ongoing or recently completed formulation-specific trials
  • long-term safety outside short perioperative research settings
  • human risk-benefit for weight, metabolic or performance claims
  • effects of repeated exposure on purine, glucose and lipid metabolism
  • comparability of research-grade AICAR, acadesine formulations and online products
  • current product-specific marketing-authorisation status in Thailand, the EU and UK
  • current US compounding-list status under a substance-specific FDA review
Limitations
  • L-Carnitine / Levocarnitine molecule or active moiety ≠ ester/salt ≠ formulation ≠ brand ≠ supplier product; biological plausibility or historical use ≠ current approval ≠ safe performance use
  • The direct-human literature is small, short and dominated by pharmacokinetic, biomarker or tolerability endpoints. The 2019 IV study had only eight treated participants and three controls; the 2026 IV comparison was retrospective with six direct-NAD+ clients; and the oral RCT tested one proprietary formulation for five days. Route, formulation and precursor studies cannot be pooled as a single NAD+ efficacy claim.
  • Strong controlled human evidence exists only in a narrow CABG setting and culminated in a negative confirmatory trial. Older meta-analytic and post-hoc signals must be interpreted in light of RED-CABG. Popular performance claims are based mainly on mouse work. Mechanistic studies also show that AICAR is not selective for AMPK, limiting simple pathway-based conclusions.

Missing fields mean information is unavailable in the current structured dataset, not that a molecule has no risks or uncertainties. English translations retain the original evidence boundaries. Where translation is not yet verified, the original Thai excerpts remain available under an explicit label. Sources retain their original language.
