Mitochondrial / Metabolic ResearchEndogenous antioxidant tripeptide / glutathione redox system; route-specific evidence

Glutathione

Glutathione is an endogenous antioxidant tripeptide. Reduced GSH, oxidised GSSG, oral and topical formulations, injectable products and GlyNAC precursors must be distinguished. Small human studies show mixed skin and biomarker results: the 2017 oral trial did not show significant overall melanin-index or UV-spot differences versus placebo. Biomarker changes do not establish disease prevention or longer life, and oral/topical evidence does not establish injection safety. Class A refers only to verified Tathion oral medicine in Japan, not skin-whitening approval; Grade C describes the limited human evidence reviewed here. FDA's 27 August 2026 alert reported at least 30 patients with adverse events following IV glutathione involving dietary-supplement-grade material and endotoxin concerns. Exact supplier-product status remains unverified.

Tesofensine: Mitochondrial / Metabolic Research: conceptual scientific illustrationEVIDENCE VISUAL · Mitochondrial / Metabolic Research
Mitochondrial / Metabolic ResearchTriple monoamine reuptake inhibitor / investigational obesity medicine

Tesofensine

Tesofensine is a monoamine reuptake inhibitor, not a peptide or GLP-1 agonist. A 203-person phase II trial showed weight-loss signals but also adverse effects including increased heart rate. A developer-reported non-binding committee opinion is not verified marketing authorisation, and Tesomet is a separate combination.

SR9009: Mitochondrial / Metabolic Research: conceptual scientific illustrationEVIDENCE VISUAL · Mitochondrial / Metabolic Research
Mitochondrial / Metabolic ResearchExperimental small molecule / REV-ERB-related research

SR9009

SR9009 is an experimental small molecule, not a SARM or peptide. Genetic studies demonstrate REV-ERB-independent effects, limiting target-specific claims. Cell and mouse results do not establish human fat-loss, endurance or cardiac benefit, and human safety remains unverified.
